June 21, 2021- (TDI): Today marks the 49th anniversary of the initiation of formal diplomatic relations between the Republic of the Philippines and the Republic of Guatemala. They were established on 21st June 1972. The common ground that they share is that they both are members of the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC). In addition to this, they have strong trade ties. The total trade between the two countries crossed $ 7 million (US) out of which Guatemalan exports to the Philippines account for $1.44 (US). Similarly, there are currently 231 Filipinos residing in Guatemala which bears witness to the bilateral relations between them.
