Bishkek, 4 June 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam exchanged words on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Firstly, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev stated that friendly ties between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam are based on mutual respect and mutually beneficial collaboration and will flourish in both nations’ interests.

Secondly, he stressed that currently all of the necessary circumstances have been created for Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam to extend and deepen their productive collaboration.

In response, Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son stated that over the last 30 years of cooperation the countries’ ties have been improving and that mutually beneficial Kyrgyz-Vietnamese cooperation would be expanded further.

Further, Bui Thanh Son expressed optimism that the two nations’ Ministries of Foreign Affairs would preserve and deepen historic relations, making use of all possibilities to strengthen them in bilateral and multilateral forums.

Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam Bilateral ties: Recent Developments

In 2016 the Former Prime Minister of Vietnam met former Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Abdyldaev Erlan Bekeshovich in Hanoi.

Former PM Nguyễn Tấn Dung stated that the historic connection between Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan is improving and that the Foreign Minister’s visit to Vietnam would make tangible contributions to strengthening their bilateral relationships.

The Prime minister emphasized that Vietnam values cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and suggested that the two countries expand mutual support at international forums and intensify dialogues to strengthen their relationship in education and culture.

He suggested that Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan should form industrial joint ventures to increase exports to the Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia.

Another meeting took place in 2021 between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Kyrgyzstan, Mrs.Nguyen Thi Hong Oanh.

The discussion was on bilateral relations and their possibilities for future growth, including the strengthening of political discussion, collaboration within international organizations, the expansion of trade and commercial links, and the legal framework.
