Madrid (TDI): With the goal of enabling content creators to activate audio translations for their work and reach a larger, worldwide audience, YouTube has revealed further information about the planned extension of its auto-dubbing feature.
The announcement of the development came this week at the platform’s “Made on YouTube” event, which mostly highlighted cutting-edge AI developments.
YouTube has announced that later this year, it will be bringing its auto-dubbing feature—which was originally known as “Aloud”—to more regions and languages.
YouTube issued the following statement:
“Hundreds of thousands of creators will have access to our AI-powered dubbing tool, formerly known as “Aloud,” in the upcoming months.
Also, up until now, beta testers could only dub English videos into Spanish and Portuguese.”
“However, we’ll be introducing additional languages shortly, including French and Italian. Video makers will be able to choose whether or not to have their videos automatically dubbed after they gain access.”

The Aloud tool integrates both text and voice translation, a technique that has proven challenging. It was first released in 2022 as part of a larger Google translation experiment.
This is perhaps the reason Google has been building the system gradually.
The software behemoth is now certain, though, that it can handle a wider variety of translations, opening up new markets for creators.
The ability for producers to engage with viewers in various local communities and geographical areas is one way that the expanded auto-dubbing capability may contribute to YouTube’s increased popularity worldwide.

Creators could reach new audience groups and expand their YouTube profile by providing material in several languages.
This capability will be further carried out in the upcoming months, according to confirmation from YouTube.
