Belgrade, 12 October 2021 (TDI): Dr. Ahmed Bin Mubarak, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Yemen addressed at the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) session. The session is being held in Belgrade, Serbia to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the First Conference of Non-Aligned Countries.

The Yemeni Foreign Minister called on the NAM members to pressurize the Houthis. The Houthis have been destabilizing peace in the country for the last seven years. The militia has created unrest in the country. Consequently, the legitimate government is struggling to establish lawfulness.

The war has generated a humanitarian crisis for the Yemeni people. As a result, the social fabric of Yemen has been torn beyond recognition. The legitimate government of the country is grappling to restore peace per the directives of the UN. Nevertheless, the Houthis are persistent in their aggression.

It is imperative that stability is guaranteed in the country by employing the GCC’s initiative, Saudi Arabia’s initiative, UNSCR 2216, and National Dialogue. Time and again, the legitimate government has endeavored to seek resolution, to no avail.

Sana’a airport must be reopened. Moreover, a ceasefire should be implemented and access to the Hodeida seaport should be ensured as per the Stockholm Agreement. The minister invoked the international community for help in this regard. Previously, the Minister highlighted this issue in the 76th UN General Assembly session.
