Yemeni and Serbian Counterparts discuss Bilateral cooperation

Belgrade, 12 October 2021 (TDI): Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, the Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs met with Nikola Silakovic, the Foreign Minister of Serbia. The meeting was held at the sidelines of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Non-Aligned Movement.

The agenda of the diplomatic engagement was to deliberate upon issues of mutual interest and bilateral relations. Yemen and Serbia enjoy historical relations. Both countries collaborate in various fields. The Yemeni Foreign Minister stressed the need of enhancing cooperation in the technical arena.

During the meeting, the latest developments in the Yemen crisis were also discussed. The country is facing the worst humanitarian crisis because of the Houthi aggression. The Houthis have persistently deflected any and every peace overture. Furthermore, the two sides vowed to address the Yemeni crisis through peaceful means. The two will also increase cooperation in the education, health, and cultural sectors.

The Serbian minister on his part confirmed his country’s support for Yemen and its territorial integrity. Serbia will also help Yemen with vaccination against covid-19. The Head of the Foreign Minister’s Office Department, Ambassador Abdelkader Muhammad Hadi, and the Serbian Assistant Foreign Minister for Bilateral Affairs, Vladimir Maric were also present for the meeting.
