Beijing, 28 October 2021 (TDI): The Chinese President Xi Jinping,  and the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres attended the meeting via video call, on 25 October 2021. They emphasized the need to enhance cooperation with the UN in order to build inclusive global governance. 

President Xi Jinping said that China has organized the commemorative conference to discuss the forgoing joint cooperative relations between the UN and China which also aimed to pursue the developments for a better world. That should be started together from a new historic starting point.

He further added that history has proven that no country can dictate the other countries according to its own will. No matter how powerful that country is, we need to follow the UN Charter, respect the integrity and sovereignty of all countries. 

He urged that there is only one system existing in the world, one set of principles and rules in the world, each country has a responsibility to work under the framework of that particular Charter.

The powerful states should respect underdeveloped and developing countries’ sovereignty which brings peace and stability to the world and work for the mutual benefit of the international community. 

Furthermore, the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has thanked the government of the People’s Republic of China for supporting the UN missions and work which promotes world peace and development.

He appreciated China’s major role in biodiversity protection and promotion of COVID-19 vaccines, poverty reduction, and climate change response.Â
