London, 9 September 2022 (TDI): International community offered condolences to the Royal Family on the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen died on the 8th of September 2022 after living a rich life of 96 years. After the official announcement of this news by the Royal Family, a series of messages started from all over the world expressing solidarity.

The United Nations

The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres condoled the Royal Family and expressed his feelings of immense sadness on the death of the Monarch.

António Guterres also expressed his admiration for the Queen and her unwavering dedication, leadership, and devotion. “She was a good friend to the UN and a reassuring presence through decades of change.”

Queen Elizabeth spent 70 years of her life as a monarch. She ruled for the longest period in British history. It made her a widely popular and respected figure across the globe.

UNHCR

The Commissioner of UNHCR, Filippo Grandi offered heartfelt condolences to the people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. He praised the Queen in these golden words, “a rare example of dedicated and dutiful leadership in today’s world.”

UNESCO

“She dedicated her long reign to serve her people. Her remarkable legacy will never be forgotten.” UNESCO praised the Queen for her remarkable legacy and commiserated with the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom.

“Today the whole world is mourning”, says Audrey Azoulay, the Director General of UNESCO. She too expressed her solidarity with the Royal Family and praised the Queen for her strength as a leader and her efforts for the public good.
