World Bank Group President meets Indonesian Minister of Investment

Washington, 19 October 2021 (TDI): World Bank Group President David Malpass meets Luhut Pandjaitan, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment, Indonesia today in Washington.

President Malpass commended Minister Luhut Pandjaitan for Indonesia’s COVID-19 response efforts. President Malpass also Commended the Minister for the positive development of the Indonesian vaccine. Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan said with the increasingly difficult and powerful country, Indonesia still faces many challenges.

One of the challenges we have faced so far is the management of COVID.  Many countries praised Minister Luhut Pandjaitan for his efforts to handle COVID. Meanwhile, the government’s efforts had been undermined.

President Malpass also emphasized the support of the World Bank Group on Indonesia’s National Mangrove program. He has also thanked Minister Luhut Pandjaitan for his leadership in conservation, biodiversity, and ecological recovery. President David Malpass and Minister Luhut Pandjaitan also discussed issues related to carbon prices, climate change, and energy transformation leading to COP26.

It is important to note that this year in May World Bank has released its Country Partnership Framework 2021-2025 for Indonesia as medium-term development goals. This framework is meant to help the country also to come out of the COVID-19 crisis. World Bank as an important global financial institution with primary development goals will continue to help Indonesia in climate change, energy challenges, and the true potential of Indonesia’s nature-gifted assets.
