Paris, 12 February 2024 (TDI): The foreign ministers of Germany, France, and Poland gathered at the Château de Saint-Cloud near Paris on Monday. They united within the framework of the Weimar Triangle, against Russian aggression and disinformation campaigns.
This unity aims to bolster support for Ukraine and enhance European unity in the face of external threats.
During the meeting, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock expressed unwavering solidarity with Ukraine. She highlighted their courageous resistance against Russian aggression over the past two years.
Furthermore, she also emphasized the commitment of France, Germany, and Poland to stand by Ukraine for as long as necessary. She stressed the importance of collaborative efforts within the European Union and NATO to bolster support.
She also revealed the exposure of a significant pro-Russian disinformation network in Germany and underscored the need for enhanced cooperation among analytical agencies to counter Russian propaganda and protect the integrity of democratic processes.
In addition, French Foreign Minister Stéphane Sejourne echoed these sentiments and underlined Europe’s determination to thwart any attempts by Russia to undermine democratic processes.
Moreover, He announced the launch of a prevention mechanism within the Weimar format to condemn foreign intervention and mobilize efforts to expose and counteract such actions effectively.
Additionally, Radosław Sikorski, the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the necessity of fulfilling commitments to Ukraine and enforcing sanctions against Russia rigorously. He warned against complacency in the face of Russian disinformation and cyberattacks, advocating for increased cooperation among Weimar Triangle members.
