Hanoi, 7 September 2021 (TDI): National Assembly Chairman, Vuong Dinh Hue attends the 5th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament (WCSP5) in Vienna, Austria that will be held from September 6-8. Hue arrived at the Vienna-Schwechat airport in Austria on Sunday. The Chairman was invited by President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Duarte Pacheco and President of the Austrian National Council, Wolfgang Sobotka.

On Hue’s arrival, he met with Vietnamese Ambassadors to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Austria, and Germany. He will meet with the European Parliament and some member state representatives.

The conference is jointly held by the IPU and the Austrian Parliament. The theme is “Parliamentary leadership for more effective multilateralism” which also focuses on peace and sustainable development for the environment. Hue will deliver his speeches, participate in discussions, and will have meetings with leaders of the IPU, the parliamentarians of some countries, and some international organizations.

Te endeavor seeks to affirm and promote the role of parliamentary diplomacy, particularly in the current global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Held every 5 years, it aims to contribute a common voice to the United Nations on the settlement of global issues.

Hue asked the Vietnamese representative agencies abroad to continue their efforts to implement positive vaccine diplomacy in Vietnam.

This is Hue’s first foreign trip to Europe since the 13th National Party Congress took office earlier this year.
