Initially, in December 2021 they will fly twice a week while the number of flights will be increased as the situation of pandemic gets stable. Vietnam will use wide-body aircrafts Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A350 for the direct flight.
Earlier last year, Bamboo Airways received certification from the U.S. Department of Transportation to travel between Vietnam and US. Such a development of the opening of direct flights between Vietnam and US will enhance comprehensive partnership between the two states.
Previously, Vietnam’s national flag carrier was allowed to fly to different cities of the US, from Hanoi. The cities include Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Washington, and Texas.
The air transport agreement between Vietnam and US was signed in 2003. The agreement allows the national flag Carrier of Vietnam to operate direct flights between the two countries.
Agreement between Vietjet and Airbus
Vietjet and Airbus concluded an agreement to ink a strategic cooperation with Airbus on the delivery timeline for 119 aircraft today. The aircrafts will be picked from the Airlines’s existing backlog.
The agreement was signed in France when Vietnamese Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chin was there for official visit, last month. Airbus agreed with Vietjet to support and train the airline’s technicians and engineers.
The agreement between them will also cover aircraft’s equipment supply and services. It will manage comprehensive aviation training, consultation, and development of MRO facilities for Vietjet.
They have also shown consensus over accelerating on Vietjet’s Training Academy development for simulators, safety management programs, and flight management training, etc.
