Washington D.C, 5 December 2021 (TDI): Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States (U.S), Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, met a group of businessmen and entrepreneurs. In the meeting, they discussed bilateral trade relations between the U.S and Pakistan. The Businessmen and entrepreneurs were representing the U.S Pakistan International Chamber of Commerce (USPICC).

Mohammad Siddique Sheikh, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors (BOD), headed the delegation. Many other officials from both sides were also present on the occasion.

Ambassador Dr. Asad acclaimed the efforts of the USPICC for its continuous initiatives in promoting bilateral trade relations between Pakistan and the U.S. Moreover, he pointed that, for the first time, exports of Pakistan to the U.S. have reached the $5 billion mark. Additionally, the U.S. companies in Pakistan are among the highest of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

Towards the end of the meeting, the Minister of Trade, Azmat Mahmud, gave a presentation on investment opportunities and policies, that facilitate easy trade, initiated by the Pakistan government. In addition to that, he invited the delegation to attend the next webinar on ‘Investment Opportunities in Pakistan’ that will be held on 16 December.

USPICC: An Overview

The U.S. Pakistan International Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit trade and business organization. It is based in Washington D.C, New York, and Islamabad (Pakistan). The USPICC is the new version of the American Business Association, established in 1986.

Moreover, the USPICC serves small and medium-sized businesses, trade bodies, non-profits, professionals, academics, and educational institutions. Particularly, it promotes economic activities between the United States, Pakistan, and the rest of the world.

The USPICC also organizes activities such as seminars, trade shows, conferences, job fairs, networking events, and many more. These activities are aimed to attract investors and also to promote bilateral trade relations.
