US State Secretary to Visit Ecuador and Colombia

Washington, 18 October 2021 (TDI): On Friday, the US State Department’s Spokesperson, Ned Price, announced the upcoming work tour of State Secretary Antony J. Blinken to South America. Blinken is scheduled to visit Ecuador on October 19 and Colombia on October 20 and 21.

During South America’s tour, Blinken will meet Ecuador’s President and Foreign Minister Guillermo Lasso, and Mauricio Montalvo, respectively. Later, the US State Secretary is scheduled to meet with Colombian President Ivan Duque and the Vice-President and Foreign Minister, Marta Lucia Ramirez.

While in Quito, Secretary Blinken will be exchanging views with the Government of Ecuador on various topics, including the significance of democratic institutions, addressing the challenges of irregular migration, and reactivating bilateral opportunities for trade and investment.

Similarly, during Bogota’s visit, Secretary Blinken will discuss the United States’ shared priorities with the Colombian officials; This includes advocating for democracy, making collective efforts to promote human rights, and supporting sustainable peace and reconciliation in the country.
