Islamabad, 18 September 2021 (TDI): A group of diplomats from the United States Embassy Islamabad celebrated World Cleanup Day. The diplomats honored the day by collecting trash in the vicinities of Islamabad. The purpose of this endeavor was to raise awareness regarding plastic pollution. The diplomats’ cleanup campaign urged the people to remain mindful of the hazards of plastic waste.
World Cleanup Day is celebrated every year on the third Saturday of September. It was first initiated in 2018 to combat the problem of solid waste. It is a social action program. The purpose of celebrating this day is to raise awareness among the general public regarding the environmental degradation caused by solid waste.
