UNDP Ghana promotes youth for transformative change

Accra, 23 October 2021 (TDI): Ahunna Eziakonwa promotes young people in Ghana to take part in the country’s development. She is the Assistant Secretary-General and Director of UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Africa. UNDP Ghana shares that the 2021 Youth Connekt Summit ended with a resounding call. This call is to ensure that policies are more inclusive and representative of the Young People of Africa.


During this ceremony, all the panelists pointed out that for Africa to emerge stronger from the COVID-19 crisis. Including leapfrog its socio-economic trajectory, policies that support the emerging opportunities through the AfCFTA. It must reflect the needs and contexts of young people.

Moreover, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, acknowledged the role of young people. Also, their contribution towards building stronger African economies. African youth is an inspiration, as shown through the illustrious stories of impact experienced by their communities. 

Furthermore, the youth challenged African leaders to move beyond commitments to implementation deliberately that nature the potential of young people. Allowing them to harness their creativity, innovation, and unique entrepreneurship spirit, for the continent’s prosperity.

However, she expressed confidence that One African Market will transform the continent and break those vicious cycles of poverty. It will take collaborating young people to succeed. Through collective resolve to move the continent to a place of empowered lives—for people and nations. The Youth Connekt Africa 2021 Summit shows it is possible to change the reality and destiny of this vibrant continent. Change is only possible through engaging with each other in a new way.
