UN Representatives meet Vietnam’s Prime Minister

Ho Chi Minh, 22 October 2021 (TDI): Prime Minister of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh hosted UN Resident Coordinator and Interim and Chief Representatives in Vietnam, on Thursday. The UN is working to assist Vietnam, specifically against Covid-19.

Pham Minh Chinh, while speaking to the event valued the UN’s achievements from the day it established. He highlighted the UN’s role in preventing conflicts and upholding of International Law.

The Prime Minister affirmed Vietnam’s commitment in becoming a valuable assistant to UN and emphasized its previous role for the last 4 decades.

UN’s representatives arrived in Vietnam with Covid-19 facility including the aid and vaccination doses. The country will also get additional 38.9 million doses of vaccines this year through COVAX mechanism, UN committed.

While UN Representatives congratulated Vietnam, lauding its all-people approach to successfully control the fourth wave of Covid-19 pandemic.

While addressing the event, they welcomed the Vietnamese Government’s resolution on recovery and safe adaptation to the pandemic. UN Representatives committed to support the country in its initiative of economic recovery and development.
