# UK Remembers Queen Elizabeth II as King Charles Reflects on Her Legacy

**London (TDI):** King Charles III has paid an emotional tribute to his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, saying she would have been “deeply troubled” by current global challenges, as the United Kingdom marked what would have been her 100th birthday.

In a recorded message released on Tuesday, the King described the late monarch as “constant, steadfast and wholly devoted to the people she served,” urging the public to remember her life rather than focus on her absence.

Queen Elizabeth II, who reigned for 70 years, died in 2022 at the age of 96. King Charles said her legacy should be viewed as a “life well-lived,” adding that her sense of duty remained unchanged throughout decades of profound global transformation.

He reflected on her belief in resilience and moral progress, quoting her early wartime broadcast as a young princess, in which she urged people to contribute to “a better and happier world.”

Without naming specific events, the King referred to the turbulence of modern times, including global conflicts and economic uncertainty, saying these developments may have caused his mother deep concern. His remarks come amid ongoing international instability linked to wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as disruptions in global energy markets.

The tribute also highlighted lighter public memories of the Queen, including her widely shared appearance with Paddington Bear during her Platinum Jubilee celebrations, which became a symbolic moment of her personal warmth and humour.

To mark the centenary, members of the royal family are expected to attend commemorative events in London, including a Buckingham Palace reception with charities closely associated with the late Queen, such as Cancer Research UK and the Armed Forces Benevolent Fund.

A memorial exhibition is also being held at the British Museum, featuring plans for a national Queen Elizabeth memorial designed by architect Norman Foster, in consultation with the Prime Minister.

The commemorations are intended to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s enduring legacy as Britain’s longest-serving monarch and her role in shaping modern constitutional monarchy.
