# UAE Says Iranian Drone Strike Hits Fujairah Oil Industry Zone

**Dubai (TDI):** A fire broke out in the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone on Monday after what authorities in the United Arab Emirates described as a drone attack originating from Iran.

According to the Fujairah Media Office, civil defense teams were immediately deployed to contain the blaze at the oil facility following the incident.

The UAE Ministry of Defense said it had intercepted three missiles launched from Iran over its territorial waters, while a fourth missile fell into the sea. It added that air defense systems were actively engaging multiple aerial threats, including missiles and drones, and that loud sounds reported across parts of the country were the result of these interceptions.

In a separate statement, the UAE Foreign Ministry strongly condemned what it called a renewed and “treacherous” Iranian attack involving missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. It described the incident as a serious escalation and a direct threat to national security, adding that the UAE reserves its full and legitimate right to respond.

There was no immediate official response from Tehran, though Iranian state media, citing a senior military official, reported that Iran had no intention of targeting the UAE.

Reports cited by international media said three Indian nationals were injured in the drone strike on the Fujairah petroleum facility. Authorities said the injured were taken to hospital and their condition was described as moderate.

The incident comes amid escalating tensions in the region, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global shipping route.

On the same day, conflicting claims emerged over a separate incident involving a US warship in the Strait. Iranian media reported that missiles had struck a US naval vessel, while United States Central Command denied the claim, stating that no US Navy ships had been hit.

CENTCOM said US naval forces, including guided-missile destroyers, are operating in the region as part of “Project Freedom,” aimed at restoring safe passage for commercial shipping. It added that two US-flagged merchant vessels had already successfully transited the Strait under this effort.

Iranian officials, meanwhile, said their forces had issued warnings to US military vessels and insisted that any transit through the Strait of Hormuz must be coordinated with Iran’s armed forces. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has also warned it would act against vessels it considers in violation of its regulations.

Separately, the UAE accused Iran of targeting an ADNOC-affiliated oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz using drones. The vessel was reportedly empty at the time of the attack, and no casualties were reported.

The UAE renewed its call for Iran to halt what it described as unprovoked attacks and to ensure the safe and unrestricted movement of vessels through the Strait, amid growing fears of disruption to global energy supplies.
