Dubai, 2 December 2023(TDI): On December 2, the United Arab Emirates commemorates its National Day and the 1971 creation anniversary, marking the day the UAE’s rulers united with seven other emirates to form the country.
The United Arab Emirates has proclaimed 2023 the “Year of Sustainability” in an effort to address climate change and promote environmental sustainability.
The initiative is being led by President Sheikh Muhammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the Supreme Council.
Year of Sustainability and COP28 Leadership
Currently, the UAE is hosting the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) at Expo Dubai until December 12, focusing on reducing global climate threats.
Through a worldwide conference aimed at turning agreements into actual successes and consequences, the UAE is focusing on advancing sustainable development goals (SDGs) and increasing energy reforms.

The UAE’s visionary leadership aims to accelerate the transition to a more organized, responsible, and equitable energy sector, develop climate financing mechanisms, improve quality of life and livelihoods, and involve everyone in the conference’s work system.
Moreover, the COP28 presidency aims to reduce emissions and build a sustainable energy system by 2030 by increasing energy efficiency through renewable energy production, low-carbon hydrogen production, and ensuring accessible sustainable cooling systems are available to all.
The United Arab Emirates remains a global leader in addressing climate-related issues through policies promoting energy conservation, sustainable transportation, and urban planning.
In addition, the UAE focuses on clean and renewable energy sources and diversifying the economy financially, with an emphasis on the green economy.
Receiving Wishes From All Across the World
The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Fund for International Development wishes member country UAE a happy 52nd National Day.
Additionally, Pakistan’s acting prime minister, Anwar ul Haq Kakkar, congratulated the United Arab Emirates on its 52nd National Day, stating that “I congratulate the government and people of the UAE on their 52nd National Day.” “On this historic day, I am happy to be in Dubai for COP28,” he added.
“Pakistan will remain an enduring partner of the UAE in this exciting journey towards progress and prosperity,” he said.
Union Day Celebrations
According to media reports, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has announced free public parking for the Union Day holiday, marking the 52nd Union Day and Commemoration Day. The free parking will be available from December 2 to 4, except for multi-level terminals, and this will apply to all public parking.
The UAE government has declared Monday, December 4, as a paid public holiday for both the public and private sectors, allowing residents to enjoy a three-day weekend.
Meanwhile, local telecom providers have embraced the festivities by offering free connectivity, discounts, and promotions to their subscribers, ensuring a happy atmosphere for National Day.
