# Türkiye strengthens military deterrence capabilities

**Ankara, 24 February 2024(TDI):** In a significant development, Türkiye, under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has made important achievements in its military deterrence capabilities.

Turkish Communications Director Fahrettin Altun revealed Türkiye’s most remarkable achievement: the recent inaugural flight of its 5th-generation fighter jet, “KAAN.”

In a statement, Altun announced that “Türkiye is rapidly increasing its military deterrence capabilities under the leadership of President Erdogan. The latest example of this is our fifth-generation fighter jet KAAN’s maiden flight.”

## Innovations in Defense Sector**

Furthermore, Altun expressed the government’s pride in innovations in the defense sector, crediting the creativity and hard work of Turkish military strategists, specialists, engineers, and other employees at Turkish companies.

He highlighted the significant role played by these individuals in advancing Türkiye’s capabilities and strengthening its defense industry.

Altun underscored, “President Erdogan’s vision for our country encouraged us to envision a future where we would be a lot more self-reliant in defense through indigenous projects.”

Additionally, he remarked, “We will be able to deter enemies and contribute even more strongly to the security of our partners and allies around the globe.”

Moreover, Turkey’s advancements extend beyond the defense sector to space exploration. Türkiye, under the leadership of Erdogan, has also made this significant achievement.

On January 18, 2024, in light of Türkiye’s advancements in various sectors, Altun announced the country’s first human space mission, marking a significant milestone in manned space exploration.

He added, “Türkiye has taken its first step into manned space travel.”

In this context, President Erdogan said, “We are entering the second century of our republic, the century of Türkiye, with the first manned space mission.”
