Islamabad/Ankara, 14 August 2022 (TDI): The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu delivered his sincere greetings to the Government and the people of Pakistan on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day.

Moreover, the Embassy of Turkiye in Islamabad, Pakistan also extended greetings to Pakistan on its 75th Anniversary and wished for a great future for Pakistani brothers and sisters.

Pakistan’s 75th Anniversary

Pakistan emerged as a sovereign state on 14th August 1947 and is commemorating the Diamond Jubilee of the 75th Independence Day, today. Independence Day holds extreme importance for Pakistani nationals. They celebrate 14th August with utmost enthusiasm and zeal.

The day began with a 21-gun salute at the provincial headquarters and a 31-gun salute at the federal capital. At dawn, special prayers were said at mosques for the nation’s peace, unity, and prosperity.

A ceremony to raise the national flag was the focal point of the festivities. Similarly, flag-raising ceremonies also took place across the nation at provincial, divisional, and district levels. Likewise, the Pakistani missions across the world hosted flag hoisting ceremonies.

Relations between Pakistan and Turkiye

Since Pakistan achieved its independence on August 14, 1947, the two countries developed their diplomatic relations. The relations are based on a strong friendship and a sense of brotherhood.

This year also marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Pakistan. Moreover, bilateral and strategic relations between the two countries were further developed through reciprocal high-level visits.

Further, the people of the two countries share a close bond due to religious and cultural affiliation. Both states assisted each other in dealing with challenging situations, such as natural disasters, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Apart from this, the formation of the High-Level Cooperation Council in 2009 institutionalized the relationship between the two countries. The council was later raised to the level of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC).
