# Trump to Visit Middle East for Hostage Release Under Gaza Peace Deal

**Washington (TDI):** US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he plans to travel to the Middle East this weekend to mark what he described as the first stage of a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, and to witness the release of hostages early next week.

Speaking at the White House, Trump said the deal had “ended the war in Gaza,” crediting his administration’s efforts for bringing both sides to indirect negotiations held in Egypt.

Under the plan, Trump emphasized, “no one will be forced to leave” the Palestinian territory, a point he said was central to his 20-point framework that served as the foundation for the talks.

The president added that he expected to visit Israel, potentially addressing the Knesset, and may also stop in Egypt. “The hostages will be coming back Monday or Tuesday. I’ll probably be there, I hope to be there,” Trump told reporters, referring to those taken captive by Hamas during the October 7, 2023, attacks.

Trump acknowledged, however, that recovering the remains of some hostages who died in captivity would be “difficult.”

According to Israeli figures, Hamas initially seized 251 hostages during the assault, with 47 still in Gaza, 25 of whom are presumed dead. Israel’s ensuing military campaign in the enclave has caused widespread devastation and claimed tens of thousands of Palestinian lives.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said he had invited Trump to attend a ceremony in Egypt marking the first phase of the ceasefire agreement. Details about the next stage of the peace plan and Gaza’s long-term governance remain unclear.

Earlier, Trump told his cabinet that the deal includes provisions for “disarming” and “pullbacks,” alluding to Israel’s demand that Hamas lay down arms and the Palestinian group’s insistence on an Israeli withdrawal.

He also said Gaza would be “slowly rebuilt,” with help expected from wealthy Arab nations that could participate in reconstruction and peacekeeping roles.

Trump pushed back against speculation that Palestinians could be displaced from Gaza. “Nobody’s going to be forced to leave. Quite the opposite, this is a great plan,” he said.
