Islamabad (TDI): Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan tomorrow for a two-day official trip, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

The visit comes at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and President Tokayev will be accompanied by a senior delegation including cabinet ministers and high-ranking officials.

During his stay, he is expected to meet Pakistan’s President, hold talks with the Prime Minister, and address the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Business Forum.

Kazakhstan, which is Pakistan’s top export destination in Central Asia, offers strategic opportunities for Islamabad to connect with Russian, Central Asian, and Eastern European markets. As the largest economy in Central Asia by land and resources, Kazakhstan plays a key role in regional trade and connectivity.

According to the Ministry, the visit provides both countries a timely chance to review bilateral relations comprehensively and explore new avenues for cooperation, particularly in trade, logistics, regional connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges. Discussions are also expected to cover collaboration at regional and international platforms.

“The upcoming visit underscores the growing ties between Pakistan and Kazakhstan, reflecting their shared commitment to turning historical and cultural connections into practical cooperation, and their common aspiration for regional peace and progress,” the ministry said.

For Pakistan, the visit is seen as an opportunity to strengthen its position as a gateway between Central and South Asia. For Kazakhstan, it presents a chance to diversify international trade amid regional economic uncertainties following the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

This follows the visit of Kazakhstan’s then-deputy premier Murat Nurtleu to Pakistan in September, during which both sides signed an Action Plan of Cooperation aimed at boosting bilateral relations.
