Dili, 23 October 2021 (TDI): On Friday, the Resident Coordinator of the UN in Timor-Leste, Roy Trivedy delivered a speech at the COP26 meeting. In the meeting he highlighted that  the world needs to undertake action to tackle the effects of climate change.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Timor-Leste, Adaljiza Albertina Xavier Reis Magno also attended the conference. She appreciated the United Nations’ initiatives towards climate changes.

On the occasion, they were also celebrating the United Nations Day 2021. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the UN-Timor partnership the Minister Adaljiza and the Resident Coordinator, Roy Trivedy also planted a tree to emphasize cooperation and coordination to fight Climate Change.

The United Nations has regulated fifteen UN agencies in Timor-Leste with the aim to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of UN’s operational activities for the sustainable development at the county level.
