The US Rejects Ghani’s Claim of Pakistan’s Complicity in Kabul Unrest

-

Washington, D.C., 4 September 2021 (TDI): At Wednesday’s briefing, the US State Department’s spokesperson Ned Price refused to endorse Ashraf Ghani’s claim of Pakistan’s involvement in the Taliban offensive on Kabul.

Price refused to comment on former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s claims over 10 to 15 thousand Pakistanis being accomplices of the Afghan Taliban. Instead, the US State Department official commended Pakistan and other partners for assisting the United States’ efforts to transit American civilians and troops from Afghanistan safely.

Mr. Ghani earlier claimed that he was facing a full-scale incursion by the Taliban along with 10 to 15 thousand international terrorists, mainly Pakistanis, to which Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Asad Majeed Khan, responded that Pakistan has no favorites in Afghanistan and would like to support any government in Kabul that is endorsed by the people of Afghanistan.
