Beijing, 8 September 2021 (TDI): Today marks the 50th anniversary of the restoration of the lawful seat of the People’s Republic of China in the United Nations (UN). A seminar was held to commemorate this auspicious occasion co-hosted by Chinese dignitaries in association with the UN. The State Councilor and Foreign Minister, Wang Yi attended the seminar via a video link to deliver a speech entitled “Building on the extraordinary fifty years and working together for a shared future”.
Wang Yi appreciated the UN’s role in peacekeeping and nation-building across the world and recognized its efforts to help China become a developed nation. He also called on the states to increase cooperation in several important areas of multilateralism to sustain peace and stability, combat the pandemic collectively and promote common prosperity for a shared future.
Chinese Foreign Minister ensured that China stands by the principles of peace and justice as envisaged by the UN charter and will go to any end to meet absolute conditions for maintaining a security community in the region and the world. He also encouraged climate change mitigation policies amid severe environmental degradation across the globe and to embrace inclusivity and openness in international trade.
