Taliban deems China and Russia as a major partner

Rome, 4 September 2021 (TDI): Taliban Spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid said in an interview to an Italian newspaper that Beijing is ready to invest a large amount to rebuild war-torn Afghanistan. He also extended cordial remarks about the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Silk Road projects along with constructive utilization of the abundant copper resources in Afghanistan.

About Russia, the Taliban Spokesperson told the interviewer that the Afghan Taliban consider Moscow as an important strategic partner and expect to keep stronger ties with the Moscow government. They assume Chinese and Russian investments as a gateway to global markets. Both Russia and China have also taken diplomatic measures to keep supporting the Taliban to establish themselves politically and economically.

Moscow continues to dialogue in favor of the Taliban to help them create a cooperative and peaceful international order. Ministry of Foreign Affairs China Spokesperson, Wang Wenbin also assured a friendly and cooperative policy towards Afghanistan hoping for a peaceful transition of power entailing peace to foster foreign investments and infrastructure in the country.
