Dushanbe (TDI): Tajikistan’s Transport Minister Azim Ibrohim and Isabel Uriz Hernandez, the senior advisor and head of the cooperation sector at the European Union (EU) office in Dushanbe, have deliberated on expanding the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor.
During their discussions, both sides focused on enhancing cooperation in international transportation between Tajikistan and the EU, particularly aligning Central Asia’s road networks with the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), according to Tajikistan’s Ministry of Transport.
A key aspect of the talks was the EU’s Global Gateway strategy for Central Asia, with special emphasis on an upcoming study by the EU aimed at promoting this initiative.
Hernandez highlighted that the EU is gearing up to attract investments in Tajikistan’s infrastructure, which includes plans for the development of checkpoints and a logistics centre near the Fotehabad checkpoint in Sughd province’s Matcha district.
