Tajikistan calls for Inclusive Government in Afghanistan

Tehran, 28 October 2021 (TDI): Tajik Foreign Minister, Sirojiddin Muhriddin attended the second meeting of Foreign Ministers of neighboring Afghanistan.

The meeting was scheduled in Tehran to discuss the future of the Taliban-led country. According to Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Tajikistan has always supported the restoration of lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan. It remains committed to this position. However, expressed concerns about the lack of the foundations of democracy: freedom, human rights violations, especially women’s rights. It was noted, Tajikistan has always supported the establishment of an inclusive government in Afghanistan. It must include the participation of all social and ethnopolitical forces of the country.

Sirodjidin Muhriddin noted that the current difficult situation in Afghanistan requires efforts from its close neighbors. The collective efforts will restore peace and stability in the country. He mentioned that the contemporary situation in Afghanistan is a problem not only for its people but also for the most acute regional and global problems.

It was noted that Tajikistan strongly condemns all forms of crime, murder, looting, and persecution of the Afghan people. Tajikistan cannot be indifferent to the people of this neighboring country. Moreover, Tajik Foreign Minister once again called on the international community to take urgent measures to ensure peace and stability in Afghanistan. Also, the international community must stabilize the difficult political and security situation through negotiations as soon as possible.
