Tajik Foreign Minister met Iranian Counterpart

Tehran, 27 October 2021 (TDI): Tajik Foreign Minister, Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.

Tajik Foreign Minister, arrived in Tehran at the invitation of Hossein Amir to attend the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of neighboring countries of Afghanistan. At the meeting, the parties expressed their intention to expand political, economic, and cultural ties. The importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary relations was also emphasized. They agreed to strengthen the activities of the inter-parliamentary friendly groups of Dushanbe and Tehran.

The parties noted the role of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Technical and Cultural Cooperation for expanding mutual relations. An exchange of views was carried out on the implemented joint projects. Both sides agreed to make full use of existing opportunities for expanding cooperation.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation within the framework of international and regional organizations. The Foreign Ministers of the two countries expressed their concern about the intensification of terrorism. They also discussed the threat to the world in the form of extremism. Both sides stressed the importance of joint efforts to combat these phenomena.
