Sultan of Oman attends IORA ministerial meeting

Muscat, 17 November 2021 (TDI): The Sultan of Oman participated in the Ministerial meeting through a video call of the Indian ocean Rime Countries (IORM). The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Diplomatic Affairs, Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Isa Al Harthy, organized the meeting. It discussed the importance of the latest developments the memorandums of understanding that the association intends to sign.

The importance of this platform is to increase the economic activities with the different countries and make sure the economic partnership between the countries bordering the Indian Ocean. The late President, Nelson Mandela, of the Republic of South Africa, visited India in 1995 and shared the concepts of an Indian Ocean Rim country for cooperation and trading.

IORA is the regional organization of 22 Member countries and 10 Dialogue Partners, stretching from South Africa in the west, to the eastern coast of Africa, along the Gulf to South and Southeast Asia, ending with Australia in the east.

The officers of the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, and Sultan Qaboos University also attended the meeting.
