Sri Lanka wishes Lesotho on its Independence Day

-

Colombo, 4 October 2021 (TDI): Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka wishes the Kingdom of Lesotho a happy Independence Day.

This positive gesture from Sri Lanka is a ray of hope for better bilateral ties and improved trade relations. On October 4th, Lesotho celebrates its Independence Day. On this day, it got independence from Britain in 1966.

The Kingdom of Lesotho is a small nation bordered by South Africa, the region’s largest economy. Lesotho, classified as a lower-middle-income country, receives less foreign help than other Sub-Saharan African countries. However, poverty and income inequality remain high due to stagnant growth and an economy that is heavily reliant on its primary external partners. Sri Lanka looks forward to providing humanitarian assistance to the country.
