Air has been tense between Pakistan and Afghanistan for months now, on account of TTP’s continued attacks inside Pakistan using the Afghan territory as launchpad and refuge.
It was only recently that Torkham Border was reopened after a closure of twenty seven days.
During Ambassador Sadiq’s meeting with Afghan Ministers, Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to
“mutually beneficial ties.”
In his talks with Afghan Acting Foreign Minister, Special Representative “underscored the importance of addressing all issues of concern, particularly security, to further consolidate bilateral ties. Both sides agreed to enhance high-level engagement and dialogue to strengthen bilateral cooperation,” read the press release issue by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan.

Involvement of Afghan nationals in attacks inside Pakistan as well as TTP’s sanctuaries in Afghanistan remain a bone of contention between the two countries.
Pakistan, for its part, demand action from the Taliban Government on TTP and other terrorist outfits residing and hiding in Afghanistan.
In addition to raising these concerns during bilateral engagements with Afghanistan, Pakistan has also raised the issue of terrorism originating from Afghan soil at the United Nations Security Council discussions.
UNSC monitoring reports have periodically noted the presence of terrorist outfits in Afghanistan.
