# South Korean President to Make State Visits to India and Vietnam

**Seoul (TDI):** South Korean President Lee Jae Myung will make state visits to India and Vietnam between April 19 and 24 to strengthen bilateral cooperation in strategic sectors.

National Security Adviser, Wi Sung-lac, announced the schedule revealing that Lee will first travel to India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a three-day state visit.

Lee and Modi are scheduled to hold a summit on April 20 and issue a joint press statement. The talks will cover cooperation in shipbuilding, maritime industries, finance, artificial intelligence and defense.

Lee will also attend a business forum with major business leaders from both countries and a state dinner hosted by Indian President Droupadi Murmu.

This will mark the third in-person meeting between Lee and Modi, following their encounters on the sidelines of the G7 and G20 summits last year.

The government in Seoul expects the visit to open a new chapter in economic cooperation in strategic sectors. The two countries will maintain close coordination on energy supply chains amid rapidly shifting global dynamics stemming from the war in the Middle East.

Lee will then travel to Hanoi on April 21 and hold a summit with Vietnam’s top leader To Lam the next day. The leaders are expected to discuss developing relations in energy, global supply chains, critical minerals and nuclear energy.

Lee will meet Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and attend a business forum.

The visit will make Lee the first foreign leader to visit Vietnam since To Lam was elected state president earlier this month.

Wi said the government anticipates that Lee’s state visit will lead South Korea and Vietnam to build the ultimate partnership and advance strategic economic cooperation.

The two countries are expected to boost bilateral cooperation on energy and supply chains as well as critical minerals amid growing global uncertainty.
