# South Korea Intelligence Sees Kim Jong Un’s Daughter as Likely Successor

**Seoul (TDI):** South Korea’s intelligence agency has assessed that the teenage daughter of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is being positioned as his likely successor, according to lawmakers briefed on the matter.

Members of parliament said the National Intelligence Service (NIS) described its conclusion as based on “credible intelligence” rather than speculation. The assessment follows a series of high-profile public appearances by Kim’s daughter, widely believed to be named Kim Ju Ae, Reuters reported.

The latest images, released by Korean Central News Agency, showed the young girl driving a newly unveiled tank alongside her father, an act interpreted by South Korean officials as a deliberate effort to project military capability and reinforce her leadership credentials.

Lawmakers said the NIS believes these appearances are part of a broader strategy to normalize the idea of a female successor in the male-dominated leadership structure of North Korea. The agency noted that such displays mirror early efforts to build the public image of Kim Jong Un himself during the period when he was being groomed to succeed his father.

In recent months, Kim Ju Ae has frequently appeared at military-related events, including weapons tests and defense inspections. Officials say this consistent visibility is aimed at strengthening her profile and positioning her as a central figure in the country’s future leadership.

The NIS also dismissed speculation that Kim’s sister, Kim Yo Jong, might oppose the move, suggesting she does not hold independent authority within the power structure.

However, some analysts have urged caution in drawing firm conclusions. While uncertainty remains, observers say the increasing prominence of Kim’s daughter marks a notable shift in North Korea’s traditionally opaque succession dynamics.
