# PM Shehbaz Says ‘Final, Agreed Text of US-Iran Peace Deal’ Reached

**Islamabad (TDI):** Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday said that a “final, agreed upon text” of a peace agreement between the United States and Iran had been reached, expressing optimism that the long-running conflict could soon be brought to an end.

In a post on X, the prime minister said Pakistan’s mediation efforts had played a key role in advancing the negotiations and dismissed what he described as attempts to derail the process through misinformation.

“Amid ongoing intense mediation efforts by Pakistan, we are fully aware of incessant misinformation campaigns being waged by those who want to sabotage the peace deal,” he wrote. “Setting aside the noise, we can confirm that a final, agreed upon text of the peace deal has been reached and Pakistan is now working closely with both sides to finalise the next steps. Peace has never been this close as it is now.”

His remarks came after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the proposed Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Tehran and Washington was closer than ever to completion.

In a separate statement on X, Araghchi said the memorandum had “never been closer” to finalisation, while urging media outlets to avoid speculation about its contents until negotiations were formally concluded. He added that all details would be shared publicly once the process was complete.

US President Donald Trump later reposted Araghchi’s comments on Truth Social and described them as “very positive”. Trump said he still believed an agreement could be signed over the weekend or by Monday, while also urging Iran to publicly clarify reports circulating in state media about the deal’s provisions.

A White House official said Tehran had agreed in principle to a “performance-based deal”, under which Iran would be required to fulfil specific commitments before receiving sanctions relief. According to the official, the proposed framework includes the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear program, removal of nuclear materials, continued access to the Strait of Hormuz for international shipping, and an end to Iranian support for militant groups in the region.

Another senior US administration official said Washington expected the agreement to be signed within the next few days and estimated the chances of success at between 80 and 85 percent. Discussions are reportedly underway regarding a venue for the signing ceremony, with Pakistan and Qatar expected to be represented as mediators.

The official said the proposed agreement would lead to the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure while allowing Tehran to maintain a civilian nuclear energy program under strict conditions. In return, Iran could gradually receive relief from international sanctions if it complies with the agreement’s terms.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said understandings had been reached on most issues under discussion and that Iranian authorities were conducting final internal reviews of the draft text.

He said relevant institutions in Iran were examining the proposed agreement before a final decision is made, while accusing the United States of repeatedly altering its positions during negotiations. Baghaei maintained that Tehran had engaged constructively throughout the talks and declined to confirm reports regarding specific provisions of the agreement.

Conflicting reports have also emerged regarding the contents of the draft memorandum. Iranian media reported that the agreement would include broad sanctions relief, the release of frozen Iranian assets, reconstruction assistance, and a permanent end to hostilities, while Trump rejected those claims and insisted that reports published by Iranian outlets did not reflect the actual terms agreed in writing.

According to Iranian reports, the draft memorandum would suspend sanctions on Iranian oil exports, provide access to billions of dollars in frozen assets, and launch negotiations on a longer-term settlement. Some reports also claim the agreement would include economic reconstruction assistance and guarantees regarding Iran’s sovereignty.

However, US officials have maintained that sanctions relief would be tied to Iranian compliance and that the primary focus of the agreement remains preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons capabilities.
