# PM Shehbaz Reaches Doha to Express Solidarity with Qatar After Israeli Strikes

**Doha (TDI):** Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Doha on Thursday for a day-long solidarity visit following Israeli airstrikes that targeted Hamas leadership in residential areas of the Qatari capital.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.

Upon arrival at Doha Airport, PM Shehbaz was received by Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani. During his visit, he will hold talks with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, conveying Pakistan’s solidarity with the Qatari leadership and people in the wake of what Islamabad has described as “unjustified aggression” and a violation of international law.

The Foreign Office said the Prime Minister would emphasize Pakistan’s longstanding fraternal ties with Qatar, rooted in shared faith and values. He will also reaffirm that Pakistan has always stood by Qatar in times of trial and will continue to do so. The discussions are expected to include consultations on Israel’s expanding regional aggression and efforts to secure peace in the Middle East.

The visit underscores Pakistan’s unwavering support for Qatar’s sovereignty and its broader commitment to regional stability. PM Shehbaz earlier termed the Israeli strike “totally unjustifiable and a brazen violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Qatar, threatening regional peace.” Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also condemned the assault as “reprehensible,” reiterating Pakistan’s full support for Qatar during this crisis.

Qatar, where Hamas maintains a political base, denounced the strike as a “cowardly violation of international law,” warning that it endangered civilians and residents. Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said the attack had “killed any hope for hostages in Gaza” and called for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be “brought to justice.”

The international community also voiced alarm. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres described the incident as a “flagrant violation of sovereignty” and urged all parties to work towards a permanent ceasefire. Saudi Arabia denounced the assault in the “strongest terms,” while Turkiye said it proved Israel had “no intention of peace.” Iran, Jordan, and the UAE also condemned the strikes, while Pope Leo described the situation as “very serious.”
