Islamabad, 25 November 2022 (TDI): Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan sent a congratulatory message to the newly elected Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Anwar Ibrahim has been sworn in as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia preceded by Ismail Sabri Yaakob on 24 November 2022.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif extended his heartiest blessings to his Malaysian counterpart on taking the oath of office as the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Moreover, the Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed his desire to work more closely with new Malaysia’s leadership for the strengthing of bilateral relations.
Pakistan looks forward to working with Malaysia to deepen the fraternal longstanding relations and cooperation between the two brotherly nations, he noted.
New Prime Minister of Malaysia
75 -year old Malaysian veteran politician, Anwar Ibrahim took oath as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia after the election ended in the country.
He vowed as Prime Minister in front of Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, King of Malaysia at the National Palace, Kuala Lumpur.
The Government of Anwar Ibrahim formed through a coalition of the three largest political groups namely HARAPAN, Barisan National, and Sarawak Party Association.
In his press conference after taking the charge of the office, he committed to defending the constitution, the Malay language, and Islam as the official religion of the country.
The new Malaysian government will guarantee the right of all especially marginalized people in Malaysia regardless of racial or religious differences, Prime Minister said.
Moreover, he added the focus agendas of his government include economic strengthening, fighting corruption, and good governance.
Pakistan-Malaysia Relations
Pakistan and Malaysia established their diplomatic relation after the independence of the latter in 1957. Both hold great bilateral relations and deep cooperation in various sectors and areas with each other.
The long-standing cooperation relations and cooperation between Pakistan and Malaysia cover different areas including trade, investment, culture, tourism, education, defense, and human capital development.
Malaysia has its high commission in Islamabad and Pakistan has its high commission in Kuala Lumpur.
