Serbian Foreign Minister Met With Belgian Counterpart

Brussels, 16 September 2021 (TDI): The Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sophie Wilmes, met her Serbian counterpart, Nikola Selakovic.

In the meeting, Serbia’s integration into the European Union was discussed along with Serbia-Belgium bilateral relations. The ongoing reform process was deliberated upon and changes necessary to tighten the rule of law were brought to the table.

Serbia is making diplomatic efforts to expedite its integration in the European Union. For this purpose, its government is considering a number of domestic reforms that are deemed necessary by the EU members. The Serbian officials are frequently meeting with EU officials to lobby for their membership.

Earlier this week, German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited Serbia and discussed its membership in the EU.
