# SCO Chief, Uzbek Deputy FM Discuss Strengthening Cooperation

**Beijing (TDI):** Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), Nurlan Yermekbayev, met with Uzbekistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Bobur Usmanov to discuss cooperation within the organization on Thursday in Beijing.

The two sides reviewed current SCO activities and exchanged views on priority areas for strengthening multilateral cooperation.

They placed particular emphasis on preparations for upcoming high-level meetings, improving practical cooperation mechanisms, and implementing decisions previously agreed upon by member states.

The SCO Secretary-General praised Uzbekistan’s active role in supporting the organisation, particularly in promoting joint initiatives focused on peace, security, sustainable development, and expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation across the region.

Deputy Foreign Minister Usmanov reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to strengthening collaboration within the SCO and highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts among member states to address current regional and global challenges.

Both sides acknowledged the strong level of engagement between the SCO Secretariat and Uzbekistan’s relevant institutions and expressed their intention to continue close coordination to ensure effective implementation of the organisation’s decisions.
