Riyadh, 23 May 2024 (TDI): Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman spoke with Emmanuel Macron, the president of France over the phone on 22nd May 2024. They discussed the most recent events in the Gaza Strip and discussed strengthening of Saudi French bilateral ties.

Moreover, their conversation focused on the current situation and developments in the Middle East. Mohammed bin Salman and Emmanuel Macron talked about a range of local and global concerns. An urgent concern was the most recent developments about the situation in Gaza.

Following the application for arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, France’s foreign ministry declared support for the court. “France supports the International Criminal Court (ICC), its independence, and the fight against impunity in all situations,” said the ministry.”

Additionally, they underlined the necessity of stepping up international communications and efforts to establish a ceasefire and put a halt to any kind of escalation. They also emphasized the significance of collaborating to provide affected parties with adequate humanitarian relief.

While touching upon the topic of bilateral ties, both Muhammad Bin Salman and Emanuel Macaron discussed strategies to improve their spheres of bilateral ties. Both congratulated each other on the agreement that the Saudia Group and Airbus have reached to buy 105 passenger aircraft.

Purchase of Airbus Jets

The significant acquisition of these jets was in alignment with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 tourist objectives. The Saudi Vision 2030 is drawing more pilgrims, visitors, businesspeople, and tourists on an annual basis.

This serves as the driving force behind the decision to close this $19 billion agreement, which will boost local content and generate employment. Additionally, it will boost the economy of the country.
