Buenos Aires, 30 November 2021(TDI): The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud, met with his Argentinian counterpart, Santiago Andrés Cafiero, on Saturday.
The meeting came as part of the Saudi envoy’s first official visit to Buenos Aires. During the conversation, the foreign ministers discussed ways to strengthen their bilateral relations and cooperation in all fields.
According to the Ministry of Foreign, International Trade, and Worship of Argentina, the officials highlighted the significance of exploring new business opportunities while discussing their economic ties.
They also discussed the importance of industrial partnership between the two sides, along with reaffirming collaboration in the areas of agriculture, energy, mining, automotive, and petrochemicals.

In addition, they exchanged views on the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) project which is aimed at using new technology in the agricultural sector. The project has shown enormous progress in various Argentinian provinces such as Santa Fe, Cordoba, and Mendoza.
Argentina’s Foreign Minister affirmed that Riyadh is a key partner of Buenos Aires in the Middle Eastern region, as well as a global contributor to sustainable development.
Similarly, the Saudi Foreign Minister expressed great pleasure over his meeting with Santiago Cafiero and also invited him for an official visit to Saudi Arabia soon.
Bilateral Relations
Argentina and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia formally established diplomatic relations in 1946 and Argentina opened its embassy in Riyadh the next year.
The two states enjoy a cordial relationship, particularly with regard to energy, trade, agriculture, investments, and education.
They also collaborate on international platforms, mainly through organizations such as the United Nations (UN), the International Monetary fund, and the Group of 20 (G20).
