# Saudi Arabia Launches Coalition for Palestinian Cause

**New York (TDI):** Saudi Arabia announced formation of a new international coalition to promote Palestinian statehood.

[Saudi Arabia](https://thediplomaticinsight.com/us-saudi-close-to-finalizing-strategic-alliance-agreement/)‘s foreign minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan has announced this during a high-level meeting at the 79th at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

He unveiled the “International Alliance to Implement the [Two-State Solution](https://thediplomaticinsight.com/palestine-moves-resolution-in-unga/),” which includes Arab and Islamic countries alongside European partners. Specific details about the coalition were not disclosed.

The ongoing conflict in Gaza has reignited discussions about the two-state solution, envisioning peaceful coexistence between Israeli and Palestinian states.

However, analysts caution that achieving this goal seems increasingly unlikely, particularly given the hardline stance of [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu](https://thediplomaticinsight.com/israeli-tanks-conduct-overnight-operation-in-northern-gaza/)‘s government. Netanyahu has already opposed Palestinian statehood.

Saudi Arabia recently paused U.S.-brokered talks aimed at normalizing relations with Israel in light of the Gaza conflict.

[Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman](https://thediplomaticinsight.com/saudi-crown-prince-and-iranian-president-discuss-gaza-conflict/) has made it clear that the establishment of an “independent Palestinian state” is a mandatory for any normalization efforts.

A senior official from the Saudi-based [Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)](https://thediplomaticinsight.com/iran-offers-to-host-emergency-oic-meeting-on-palestine-crisis/) stated that the new coalition mainly comprises OIC member states along with several European nations.
