Global Rural Development Forum held in China under the theme “Global Sustainable Development Cooperation: Poverty Reduction and Rural Development”

Islamabad, 21 October 2021 (TDI):  Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection virtually participated in the Global Development forum held in China. The theme of the event was “Global Sustainable Development Cooperation: Poverty Reduction and Rural Development”.

It was organized to address global sustainable development, poverty reduction, and rural development. She has invited countries to join the global knowledge platform on social protection.

Dr. Sania Nistar briefed the participants about an upcoming initiative on social protection. The initiative is in its formative stages and is a joint effort by Pakistan, Turkey, Nigeria, and Costa Rica. The aim is to establish a global knowledge platform on social protection. The Special Assistant invited countries to join this initiative.
Dr. Sania mentioned Pakistan’s contributions in the domain of poverty alleviation and social protection by quoting the “Ehsaas Programme”. She underlined the contributions of Ehsaas by mentioning its link to agriculture and the rural economy. Ehsaas Progamme is actively involved in 19 protection programs for 14 vulnerable groups.
