Geneva, 20 October 2021 (TDI): Rwandan Embassy in Sudan shared news about filing with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) in Geneva. Rwanda filed a formal application to license a large number of 327%2C000 satellites.

The ITU accepts the application, which is going to proceed through its conventional application process. They have confirmed the details for two fleets of craft (Cinnamon 217 and 937) totaling 327,320 satellites.
Rwanda aim to launch 27 of what they describe as “orbital shells” with each ‘shell’ comprising 12,960 satellites.
The country has a strong history of taking interest in satellites for different reasons, such as; educational and health connectivity. In November 2019, it has constructed its first cube satellite. It was installed from the Space Station and carried from Japan’s Tanegashima Space Center up to the International Space Station.
Rwanda Space Agency said that an initial step—filling to a satellite—is taken for advancement with ITU. This is important for any state to operate in space for advancement in technology. Rwanda Space Agency added that space is not only reserved for some states in this era.
