Rwanda and China celebrates 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations

Kigali, 9 November 2021 (TDI): The Embassy of China in Rwanda held Celebration ceremony of 50 years of Rwanda-China relations. The Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Vincent Biruta attended the ceremony.

During the meeting, speaking to the attendees the Minister said, “I would like to appreciate the Government of China’s multidimensional contribution to the development of my country in key sectors.”

The People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Rwanda established diplomatic relations in 1971. Since then, bilateral relations have become stronger day by day. Likewise, both countries share cordial ties in trade, diplomacy, public diplomacy, international affairs, and cultural spheres.

In addition, China-Rwanda trade and economic relations mutually benefit both countries: It flourishes agriculture, e-commerce, and infrastructure. Moreover, China supports Rwanda’s educational and health Sector.

Likewise, China has provided many educational scholarships to Rwanda’s youth.  Lastly, to combat the Covid-19, the Chinese government also donated Sinopharm vaccines doses to the people and government of Rwanda.
