According to reports, Forteinvest, an independent Russian oil refiner, has signed a deal that will see Russian gasoline shipped to Pakistan by land for the first time.

This is so because the Russian [refiners seek alternate markets](https://thediplomaticinsight.com/pakistan-seeks-fao-assistance-to-bolster-agriculture-expertise/) for motor fuels days before a European Union (EU) import embargo.

According to the sources, Forteinvest has sold a 1,000-tonne lot of gasoline from its Orsk facility to a trader for delivery to Pakistan and has received more requests to provide gasoline, diesel, and LPG to the nation.

Due to the lack of direct rail connections between Russia and Pakistan, the sources claimed the refined products would be transported by rail from the Orsk refinery in Russia’s Orenburg region.

The Orenburg region close to the Kazakhstan border to Afghanistan before being unloaded onto tank trucks for transportation to Pakistan.

It is pertinent to note here that in accordance with a new agreement between Islamabad and Moscow, the first shipment of discounted Russian crude oil arrived in Karachi in June.
