Islamabad (TDI): Prof. Dr. Sayeda Zia Batool, Chairperson of the Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) Islamabad, has been honoured with the prestigious Global Ambassador Award 2024 in recognition of her exceptional services in the field of education.
The 6th Global Ambassador Awards Ceremony was organized in Islamabad by The Diplomatic Insight Group, a global public diplomacy institution in Pakistan, with the presence of Ambassadors, diplomatic corps, Parliamentarians, government officials, business leaders, academics, media, and civil society members.
Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Dr. Farhat Asif, Chairperson of the Diplomatic Insight Group, welcomed distinguished guests and underscored the organization’s commitment to promoting global collaboration and diplomacy.

Dr. Sayeda Zia Batool, an acclaimed leader in education, has been transforming Pakistan’s academic landscape for over 23 years.
Currently, as the Chairperson of the Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) Islamabad, a role she has held since 2019, she has been pivotal in advancing reforms for private education regulation.
Dr. Batool’s career is marked by significant contributions as Director General of Quality Assurance & Statistics at the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Director General of the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC), where she played a crucial role in strengthening quality assurance and institutional performance evaluation across Pakistan’s higher education sector.
Dr. Batool’s efforts led to the development of Pakistan’s first indigenous university ranking model, which garnered international recognition, including at the Commonwealth Universities Conference in Jamaica.
The World Bank also acknowledged her contributions to education reform in a report by Dr. Fred M. Hayward.
At PEIRA, her leadership has enhanced the registration and accreditation of private educational institutions and initiated professional development programs for teachers.
On the global front, Dr. Batool has made substantial contributions, such as developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for universities in OIC countries, which were approved at a ministerial conference in Riyadh.
Her election as a Board Member of the Asia Pacific Quality Network (APQN) for two consecutive terms reflects her standing as a recognized expert in quality assurance.

She has represented Pakistan on numerous international platforms, advocating for progressive education policies.
Her publications, including the “QA Manual for Higher Education,” continue to be valuable resources in education reform.
