Hanoi, 7 September 2021 (TDI): Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend the 7th Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) Summit taking place on September 9 via videoconference, at the invitation of Cambodian Prime Minister Techo Hun Sen.

Since 1992, the GMS has supported the implementation of high-priority sub-regional projects in agriculture, energy, environment, health, human resource development, information, communication, technology, tourism, transport, transport and trade facilitation, and urban development. It comprises six nations (Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam) that share the Mekong River. These countries, along with the assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), entered into the program of sub-regional economic cooperation that is designed to enhance economic relations.
