Prime Minister of Pakistan addresses UNCTAD15

Islamabad, 7 October 2021 (TDI): Prime Minister, Imran Khan virtually delivered the speech at the 15th United Nations Conference on Trade and Development world Leader Summit Dialogue III.

Prime Minister Imran Khan discussed important points that will help in narrowing the gap between poorer and rich countries. He urged global action to get rid of inequity. He called for bridging the gap between developed and developing countries. He emphasized taking global action to tackle vaccine inequity, debt relief, increase climate financing, and combating illicit financial flows.

Imran Khan added that take every action to raise awareness of the injustice which is being done to the people of the developing world; this injustice needs to stop. He called for the return of stolen wealth to developing countries as part of economic recovery globally from the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change.

He underscored the imperative of halting these outflows and shows his deep concern over the huge challenge of illicit flow of money amounting to $1 trillion annually from developing countries to developed capitals and tax havens.
